Listen up, 7 Brew fans. We have some mug-nificent news! You can officially run (or drive) to your nearest 7 Brew location for your favorite coffee beverage with plant-based milk at no extra charge. The upcharge has been dropped at all 360+ locations nationwide, including the new 7 Brew stands that are popping up around the United States. This win comes after a Mercy For Animals campaign, as our corporate engagement team, supporters, and volunteers spent weeks urging 7 Brew to drop the upcharge on plant-based milk, which is kinder for animals, customers, and the planet. When asked why 7 Brew dropped the upcharge, a customer service representative said, “We stand for kindness.” Thank you, 7 Brew! Better latte than never!

7 Brew’s new plant-based milk policy aligns with those of several other major U.S. coffee chains, including Starbucks, Scooter’s Coffee, Dutch Bros, Tim Hortons, Peet’s, and Gregorys Coffee. For a more comprehensive list of coffee shops that don’t charge extra for plant-based milk, check out our blog post here.
7 Brew’s move is not only a win for your wallet:
- The policy is more equitable. Studies show that nearly 90% of people from some parts of East Asia, 80% of Indigenous Americans, 65% of Africans and African Americans, and 50% of Latino Americans experience some form of lactose intolerance.
- The policy is better for the planet. Cows’ milk production generates three times more greenhouse gas emissions, uses 11 times more land, and requires 13 times more water than oat milk. Making plant-based milk more accessible means that more people can make the sustainable switch.
- The policy helps protect animals. The dairy industry is fraught with cruelty, typically keeping cows in miserable conditions and separating them from their calves shortly after birth. Offering plant-based milk at the same price can encourage consumers to make kinder choices and move us closer to a world where animals are no longer trapped in a cruel system.
