Festive Events Campaign 2024 So Far In Numbers

Today marks 25 days since this year’s Festive Events campaign launched. And once again we’re making HUGE strides to protect reindeer from exploitation at Christmas. 25 days may not seem like a lot, but we’ve achieved a lot in a small amount of time.

The festive events campaign gets bigger every year as we identify new events that might pose a risk to animals used in them, and keep tabs on all the events investigated in previous years. As of today, a total of 410 events nationwide are on our radar, and every event using live animals will be contacted to receive information and education on the harm this does to the animals.

In just 25 days we have contacted 236 venues and event organisers with our joint letter. The letter is signed by 21 animal protection organisations, specifically targeted at those events that may be planning to use live reindeer, for selfie props, parades, and cynical marketing ploys.

Every festive event you report to us will be contacted!

Our approach works!

So far this year we have identified 186 events that have previously used live animals, which are this year advertising animal-free events! We have contacted all of these events in the past 6 years to object to their exhibition of live animals at Christmas – evidence that our work is changing minds and hearts! 17 events have directly confirmed to us their new animal-free approach, and you can find these events marked in green on the map!

As of today, there are 77 events to contact on our interactive map. 59 of them have hired live reindeer, and we need you to contact them to object! 13 have been added this week! They are:

There are also 17 events on the map, marked in green, which are confirmed animal-free events! So you can find fun, family-friendly festivities near you that don’t exploit live animals!
