Hachiko

This story became known around the world thanks to the film that was released in 2009 called Hachi: A Dog’s Tale. But it is based on the story of Hachiko, a Japanese Akita breed dog that lived between 1923 and 1935. This hero dog is remembered for his touching fidelity to his master, a teacher from Tokyo.

When the animal was barely a year and a half its master died of a heart attack. Hachiko waited for him for more than seven years at the station, where he used to arrive after his work. He did it every day until he died.

Mole dogs

The dogs known as ‘mole dogs’ were the companions of the famous Mexican brigadistas called moles. They did a very important job after the strong earthquake that affected that country in 1985.

Currently mole dogs travel the world coming to the aid of places where natural disasters have occurred. They work side by side with their owners to save lives.

Orion

In December 1999, a series of landslides caused by heavy rains occurred on Vargas, a Caribbean coast located in Venezuela. In that situation, a Rottweiler dog named Orion behaved like a true hero. He risked his life to save 37 human beings. When the force of the water dragged a little eight-year-old girl, Orion did not hesitate to jump and swim in the turbulent waters full of logs and stones. The animal very gently took the little girl with its muzzle and dragged her to the shore to save her life.

Then he continued with his feat. He spent an entire night and the next morning helping children and the elderly out of the water. His behavior demonstrated a poignant solidarity with human beings and an incredible nobility. He was awarded a medal of honor for valor.

Gold

Dorado is the name of a Labrador dog that saved the life of its owner during the attack on the Twin Towers of New York in September 2001. His master was badly injured inside one of the buildings. This brave animal refused to abandon his best friend despite his owner’s efforts to make him escape and save himself. The animal did not obey him and dragged him down the stairs to get him out of the place shortly before the building collapsed.

Matapaco.

During the student protests in Chile in 2013, a farmer won everyone’s sympathy. This activist dog faithfully accompanied the students who were protesting against the economic austerity measures that the country’s government had decreed.

Matapaco was not afraid of tear gas or water cannons. This hero dog became the symbol of the struggle and did not abandon the protesters at any time. He was a real star on social media and even a documentary was made about him.

Dayco

The Dayco dog was a Labrador, a member of the Fire Department of Ibarra, ecuador. After the 7.8 earthquake that hit the coast of that country in 2016, Dayco worked tirelessly in the rescue of the victims. This hero dog, certified nationally and internationally, saved many lives and helped locate some of the bodies of the more than 700 people who died in that natural disaster.

Dayco worked hard and in very difficult conditions, so he suffered severe dehydration that caused his death. He won the recognition and sympathy of everyone in that country, where they even put a statue on him.
