Longer lived dog breeds. You know that if you acquire a dog, you are making a great commitment; because they are living beings that will need our care, our love and company for many years. So you must be very aware and prepared to take on this enormous responsibility.

It is important to mention that the life time of a dog will depend on several factors such as: breed, genetics and physical condition. If your dog belongs to the list of the longest-lived dog breeds, but does not have a healthy diet, or did not receive his full vaccination schedule, it is very likely that his life expectancy will decrease considerably.

As we mentioned earlier, one of the factors on which the longevity of dogs depends is the breed. If you want to know which are the longer-lived dog breeds in the world, here is a list of dogs that can be part of your life for many years.

Chihuahua

Topping this list, we have Chihuahua dogs, they can live up to 20 years. You know that they are also considered to be the smallest dog breed in the world. There appears to be a direct relationship between size and longevity; that is, the smaller the breed, the longer it will be.

The Chihuahua, too, is a breed that adapts perfectly well to domestic life; he is very intelligent, funny, agile and obedient. And despite its small size, it has a strong enough character to defend its owners from any possible threat.
